We want to hear from you!
June, 2005
Series 1
filming was completed and the 13 episodes were
delivered to the BBC, to great acclaim.
Then we had a little party.

On Saturday 30th October, 2004, we were very proud to welcome Pas Ferrari and his wife, Eileen, to our studio. Pas was one of four assistant animators on Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley in the late 1960s. In those days, stop frame animations were shot onto film. Pas explained that each week's work was processed the following weekend. If something hadn't worked out, the only option was to re-shoot. However, virtually everything that was shot for the classic Trumptonshire trilogy was used in the 39 episodes. Only 39? Yes, 13 of Camberwick Green, 13 of Trumpton and 13 of Chigley - figures that often surprise people. Our two hours with Pas, listening to his stories about life in the Trumptonshire studio with John Hardwick and Bob Bura was a wonderful spine-tingling experience that we'll always remember. Thanks Pas!
Nowadays, we are spoilt by modern technology. Each frame that we shoot is captured onto a computer and can be viewed immediately, on its own, or as a sequence including previous frames.

On 13th May, 2004, we signed a contract with the BBC to produce 13 x 4 minute episodes of Summerton Mill. They were first screened within the BBC's flagship pre-school programme, Tikkabilla - in 2005, and then the series was given its own time slot. Since then, Summerton Mill has been screened many times, within Tikkabilla and repeats of Tikkabilla on CBeebies and BBC2, and as a stand-alone on CBeebies and on BBC2

And a big thank you to James Cleland who joined the animation team throughout production of Series 1.
